Breakfast of Champions began with a broken teacup purchased during a trip to China. Rather than allowing the damaged piece to be discarded, I incorporated it into a mosaic that celebrates transformation, imagination, and renewal. Emerging from the cup, a dragon takes shape from fragments of stained glass and ceramic, symbolizing the beauty that can arise from unexpected circumstances. By giving new life to a cherished object, the piece reflects the mosaic process itself—assembling broken pieces into something stronger, more meaningful, and entirely unique.
